Knife Control Concepts 2: Entries, Strking and beyond
Two days of edged weapon training with the Knife Control Concepts team, hosted at Forge Krav Maga in Hayes Valley.
Registration is handled by Knife Control Concepts. Early bird $299 through January 25, 2027, then $349. A $200 deposit holds your place.
The part most knife training skips
Most knife work looks clean on the mat. Someone feeds a committed angle, you take the arm, everyone resets. Real attacks do not cooperate. They arrive close, they arrive fast, and they almost never give you the position you rehearsed.
Knife Control Concepts 2 starts where the first course ends. It deals with what happens after the entry, when the grip is not perfect, the attacker is still driving forward, and the fight is moving. You will work standing control, striking from inside the clinch, and the scrambles that follow when it hits the ground.
The approach is conceptual rather than technique-by-technique. You are building a framework you can keep training long after the weekend is over.
What you will cover
Day One — On Your Feet
Review of standing outside control
Dealing with frames and shirt grabs
Implementing striking from control positions
Inside control and escape
Day Two — On the Ground
Review of the top control modules
Navigating scrambles
Introduction to fighting from the bottom
Scenario work and implementation
Come prepared
This is not an introductory seminar. You will get the most out of it if you have completed KCC1 in person or online, hold a KCCID, or have at least twelve months of consistent self-defense training behind you.
If you are not sure whether you qualify, reach out before you register and we will help you figure it out. You are welcome either way, but the material moves fast and assumes a working base.
After the weekend
A conceptual framework for edged weapon defense that holds up under pressure
Concrete tools and drills you can keep training at your own school
Scenario-based reps that test the material instead of just demonstrating it

Questions
Do I need to have taken KCC1? It is strongly recommended. KCC1 in person or online, a KCCID, or roughly a year of consistent training will all get you ready. The material builds on concepts from the first course.
What should I bring? Training clothes you can move and sweat in, a mouthguard, and a water bottle. Training knives will be available, but bring your own trainer if you have one you like.
Do I have to be a Forge member? No. This event is open to anyone who meets the training prerequisite, from any school or system.
Is there sparring? There is pressure testing and scenario work, which means resistance and movement. It is scaled and controlled, not a competition.
Can I pay the full amount up front? Yes. The $200 deposit is the minimum to hold a spot, not a requirement.
Where do I park? Street parking in Hayes Valley is limited on weekends. The Civic Center BART and Muni stations are a short walk, and the Performing Arts Garage on Grove is the closest paid option.
Spots are limited
Two days, one room, and material that does not get taught often on the West Coast. Early bird pricing ends January 25, 2027.
