Dutch Kickboxing in San Francisco
Dutch Kickboxing at Forge is part of a complete self-defense training ecosystem—built for everyday people, not professional fighters or competitors.
Our striking program develops real, practical striking skills that integrates seamlessly with Krav Maga, clinch work, weapons awareness, and ground fundamentals—because in the real world, nothing happens in isolation.
If you’re looking for Dutch Kickboxing in San Francisco that’s taught by experts, performed with your safety in mind, and with a ton of context—you’re in the right place.
What Is Dutch Kickboxing?
Dutch Kickboxing developed in the Netherlands through the integration of Western boxing, Muay Thai knees and kicks, and a uniquely Dutch emphasis on high-volume combinations, pressure, and conditioning.
Unlike traditional Thai training—which often emphasizes rhythm and single exchanges—Dutch Kickboxing is built around:
Tight boxing + low kicks
High-repetition of combinations
Pad work and partner drilling, particularly under fatigue and duress
Conditioning that supports real striking endurance
At Forge, Dutch Kickboxing isn’t treated as a standalone sport. It’s trained as a functional striking layer—one that supports self-defense decision-making, stress tolerance, and adaptability when situations escalate beyond clean, controlled exchanges (which is all the time).
Why Dutch Kickboxing at Forge?
At Forge, Dutch Kickboxing is part of a larger system. We’re the only school in San Francisco where Krav Maga, Dutch Kickboxing, Pekiti Tirsia Kali, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu are trained under one roof—with a shared, self-defense-first mindset.
That matters.
Real-world violence doesn’t stay in one lane. Striking turns into clinching. Clinching turns into chaos. Weapons may appear. You may end up on the ground. At Forge, Dutch Kickboxing is trained as a functional striking layer—designed to work alongside grappling, weapons awareness, and situational decision-making.
This approach develops students who can:
Strike with structure, good form, and mental composure
Manage pressure and fatigue, especially when the odds are against you
Transition between ranges when situations change (and they do)
Train seriously without needing to become professional fighters or competitors
We’re not here to produce professional athletes. We’re here to help everyday people build real capability—through training that’s challenging, thoughtful, and grounded in how violence actually unfolds.
Dutch Kickboxing at Forge sharpens your striking—but more importantly, it supports the bigger goal: being harder to hurt and better at protecting the ones you love.
Meet Your Coach: Xavier Macay
Xavier Macay brings more than two decades of striking experience to the mat. He fought professionally in MMA — 5 bouts with a 2-2-1 record — and competed in about 35 amateur and semi-pro Muay Thai, kickboxing, and boxing fights both locally and overseas. He also holds a blue belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and is formado (graduated) in Capoeira, giving him broad, functional combat insight across striking, grappling, and movement disciplines. Xavier teaches Dutch Kickboxing with a clear understanding of where sport ends and self-defense begins—and how to bridge the gap responsibly. He’s fluent in high-level combinations, pressure, and conditioning, but he also explains why certain habits matter, where they apply, and when they don’t.
Students learn:
How striking changes at close range
What breaks down under stress
How clinch, balance, and grappling affect striking decisions
How to stay effective without unnecessary risk
His coaching style is calm, technical, and insight-driven—focused on building durable skill, not performative toughness. Whether you’re brand new or highly experienced, Xavier meets you where you are and helps you understand the bigger picture.
At Forge, Xavier teaches Dutch Kickboxing not as an end goal—but as a transferable skill set that supports real-world self-defense and long-term capability.
Lineage & Influence
Xavier’s Dutch Kickboxing approach has been shaped in part through his connection to Ilonka Elmont, a world-class Dutch kickboxer and respected coach.
Ilonka Elmont is closely associated with the Dutch kickboxing tradition influenced by Lucien Carbin, a widely recognized figure in the Netherlands’ striking culture and a contributor to its pressure-based training methodology.
This lineage provides a clear technical framework rooted in disciplined boxing, combination-based striking, and performance under pressure.
At Forge, that tradition informs how we train—while our mission defines why: building capable, adaptable people through serious training, not professional fighters.
